I was doing some reading and came across some interesting things about the upcoming holiday. Valentine's Day is derived from the ancient feasts of Lupercus, which had more to do with protection from wolves than love. One of the traditions of the feast was drawing a name from an urn to choose a partner for the evening to have games and dances with. That actually sounds like fun, not that I'm saying I want to have games and dances with anyone other than Paris, because I don't. But that might be a fun option for those here who aren't dating.

I understand that there is quite a bit of interest in visiting the village, despite recent events. I also understand that several students, myself included, wish to go in order to find a Halloween costume. I am organizing a group trip into the village this weekend, so we can have safety in numbers and still get out of the school. The group will leave the school at 4:30 PM on Saturday. All interested parties please respond here so I can have a good idea of how many will be going.

This past weekend was so nice. It felt like the first time all year I've actually been able to relax some. I am so very glad that the Headmistress is back. Paris, I still feel like I'm making up for lost time with you. And next weekend seems too far away. Would you like to study together tonight? Yes, I realize we may not get much actual studying done.

Our trip is nearly done. It's been so much fun. I'm sorry we didn't get back to the Americas to meet up with Renny and Eric, but Northern Europe has been plenty exciting for us.
I just saw the class lists for next year. Interesting, though I must say I've never been less excited about school than I am right now. Also, I've never been more happy than I've been this past month.

Oh my. It appears there's a Pygmi Puff infestation in the Chevalier Common Room. I was attempting to charm a stain off of one of the sofas when the cushion ripped and out they came! It seems that some of the puffs from Christmas had gotten in there and have been multiplying all this time. I tried to catch them, but there were hordes of them. Dozens, at least. If you come across any of them, a simple stunning charm works to stop them. Please don't hurt them, if you bring them to a Prefect, we'll get them rounded up and figure out what to do with them.

Though interest for a career fair wasn't as vocal as I'd hoped, I did speak to several teachers about it and the staff seems to like the idea. I do not have a date set for it yet, likely a weekend in May. I have already contacted several people to set up boothes and be available to answer questions about a variety of careers. So far I have a potion-maker coming, a banker, a wand-maker. I am hoping to get at least one representative from the Ministry, if not several, in attendance.

So I've been reading up on dragons. Mostly about defensive things, because they're dangerous creatures. But no one should fear. If the rumors are true, I'm sure the Headmistress has everything under control. And if you are worried, do what I'm doing and read a book. Knowledge is half the battle.

I know I can't be the only one thinking about the future at this time of year. I was wondering, would there be any interest in a career fair of sorts, getting some professionals from different fields in here to answer questions and give out information about a variety of careers? I think it'd be very enlightening for many of us, but I'll only put the effort into organizing such a thing if the interst is there.
And in thinking about the future, goal setting is important. So here's a few more questions. What do you hope to have accomplished in life one year from now? In five years? In ten?
